“Averi will steal your girlfriend,”
according to the Boston Phoenix. Not literally,
but the band’s passionate, loyal supporters
have a tough time pulling themselves away from
listening to and seeing the Boston five-some.
Since 2001, Averi has been packing Northeast clubs
and colleges, doing damage down the East Coast
and into the mid-West and have been featured alongside
such artists as Gavin DeGraw, Guster, Barenaked
Ladies, Goo Goo Dolls, Hanson, Backstreet Boys,
Matchbox20 and many more
Averi’s hook-filled rock anthems, introspective
ballads and sax-tinged pop-soul gems left a serious
impression in 2005, with the release of their
sophomore disc Drawn to Revolving Doors, produced
by Scott Riebling (Letters to Cleo, American Hi-Fi),
sold independently to nearly every state in the
U.S. as well as 22 countries around the world.
The Boston Globe was right with their prediction,
Averi was THE act to watch in 2005, having finished
up the year headlining the Avalon Ballroom (2000-person
capacity), receiving four Boston Music Award nominations,
and being named Newbury Comics/Boston Phoenix’s
“Best Wicked Good Band.” Undoubtedly,
Averi is one of the country’s top unsigned
acts and independent music juggernauts.
The band has a new record in the works for 2006,
laced with the incendiary duo of singer/guitarist
Mike Golarz and saxophonist/everything-but-the-kitchen-sink
provider Michael Currier, supported by the strong-armed
guitar playing of Stuart Berk and the titanium
rhythm section of Chris Tilden (bass) and Matt
Lydon (drums).
